Takara has revealed their own exclusive Transformers toyline for 2025… and everything about it feels completely out of left field.

I was gonna say it was wild… but even I cringed typing that out. I wonder what’s up with Hasbro and Takara both doing wilderness themed toylines this year… maybe their market research predicts that animals are going to be really popular in 2025?
Wild King is going to be aimed at kids like Cyberworld but it looks like Takara’s aiming for completely different play pattern with Wild King compared to Hasbro’s Cyberworld. Wild King is going to be centred around some nuts robot combinations.
So far there seems to be two types of Transformers in Wild King; Energy Masters and Energy Beasts.
Energy Masters

Here are the main figures! Energy Masters are going to be the core figures of Wild King and the smaller Energy Beasts are going to combine with them Scramble City style.
I’m glad they did Optimus and Megatron first instead of Optimus and Bumblebee like they usually do. You got two guys who can duke it out right out the gate with Wild King!
They look Voyager sized and while they’re both simpler looking than regular Generations stuff, they still look premium and Takara-y. Also, they’re definitely leaning heavy on the G1/Evergreen side of things but their designs are pleasantly fresh and unique.
Energy Beasts

And here are the Beasts! There’s been four Energy Beasts revealed so far and they are:
- Light Long the giraffe.
- Leafback the triceratops.
- Hydrophant the elephant.
- Captain Volka the tyrannosaurus.
All of them look pretty similar to each other in robot mode but they all have unique beast modes. They seem to have the same core engineering to turn into beasts and gestalt limbs.
Out of the four of them, Hydrophant looks the most interesting to me. Yes, it’s just because he’s an elephant.
Combining!

And here’s what they look like combined! This is some Super Sentai insanity and I’m all here for it. What’s neat is that unlike G1 Scramble City style combiners, you can still form combinations with just one or two of the limbs.
You can have Optimus and Megatron running around with just one huge animal arm, gauntlet thing no worries. Or you can give them all four Energy Beasts to have a full Autobot or Decepticon Megazord.
Closing
It’s been awhile since Takara just went off and made their own unique toyline separate from Hasbro’s… and Wild King is just something else man.
I’m still excited for Cyberworld but I think that Takara’s Wild King stuff looks noticeably better. Hopefully Takara doesn’t make this line too expensive… but I’m not holding out hope for that. Takara exclusive stuff always comes at a premium.
Always.
