Knockoff KO Transformers Studio Series SS-99 Rise Of The Beasts Voyager Battletrap Review

This isn’t evil Ironhide.

That whole fan theory about Scourge being evil Bayverse Optimus and Battletrap being evil Bayverse Ironhide… it didn’t pan out. But since this is bootleg of Studio Series Battletrap, some of you guys are gonna consider him evil by default.

Because all KOs are baaaaaaaaad.

You know what is evil? The aftermarket prices on many of the Studio Series figures. How in the name of Primus did that happen?

For some reason, ROTB Optimus and Battletrap got expensive after a bit of time. Why just those two? Everyone else stayed the same price as far as I can tell.

Whatever the story is there, I’m not paying RM300 (about $75) for Optimus or RM250 (about $60) for Battletrap. I’m getting KOs.

I thought this guy was a Baiwei release but nope, it’s a new company. Seems that they don’t want to catch any heat from Hasbro so they’ve made it hard to know what their name is. The box say “Shape Shifting” and “QT” so I’m assuming that’s the brand.

Battletrap here is a solid KO and a great substitute for anyone who doesn’t want to pay the crazy aftermarket prices for an original SS Battletrap.

He’s a 1:1 KO with die-cast parts, no upsizing anywhere. Some sources say this guy has die-cast metal but I can’t find the metal parts anywhere. One unique thing about this guy is that he has 1:1 tampos with the original figure which means he actually has GMC branding on him.

Naughty naughty.

The plastic quality is nice, dense and solid. The QC on my copy is great for the most part but some of the joints are a bit too tight which makes moving things around a just bit scary.

This isn’t the KOs fault… but that transformation is unforgiving. Everything folds in so tightly and neatly that you need to do every step in the correct sequence otherwise it won’t work. Going from truck mode to robot mode is actually pretty easy but going from robot to truck…

That is just not a fun time.

Anyway, even though this is a new KO company, I give QT-01 a solid recommendation. He’s totally worth the RM60 to RM90 (about $15 to $20) he goes for.
