Quick Look Review: Transformers Universe 2.0 Ultra Powerglide

Powerglide… isn’t Powerglide.

I’m pretty sure that Powerglide, the Minibot, shouldn’t be this massive but whoever green-lit this clearly knew better. People in 2008 were doing anything.

Well Powerglide is here, missing an arm, a gun and a wing but he’s here. Doesn’t matter if we’re missing parts, we’re taking a look at this grown chunk of pure beef.

Robot mode

Powerglide has been sipping that juice and eating his trenbologne sandwiches because he’s absolutely jacked in robot mode. Seriously, who in their right mind thought this was a good idea? Whoever they were, they were absolutely right.

Now, I like Powerglide being buff… but why is he white with red details? I don’t care about being slavishly faithful to G1… I just think red everywhere would have looked better. I do like that Powerglide’s eyes and chest light up while he makes a bunch of noise.

Powerglide’s got great articulation and can be put into a ton of poses. His head can look everywhere and he has a waist swivel! The only problem is that balancing him in action poses is tough since he’s so top heavy and he doesn’t have ankle pivots.

Vehicle mode

Powerglide’s plane mode is his G1 plane mode… but massive. There’s just something so satisfying about handling a big, chunky jet. It’s not just the size either; Powerglide is really nicely detailed and painted too.

I know Silverbolt’s supposed to be that way because it’s a meme… but Powerglide handles his robot kibble much better than his fellow Ultra Class Autobot.

There’s a ton of playability in jet mode. He has working landing gear that rolls on top of his “electronic lights and sounds” that still work in this mode.

Closing

Yeah, I’m gonna need a complete version of Powerglide at some point because this mold is awesome. Aside from this guy, there’s a red repaint of Powerglide and an evil black repaint of this mold… whose name I’ve forgotten. I’ll probably hunt down and get one of those guys since I’ve got this white one already.

I’ll definitely gonna get a complete version of this mold at some point… but I also kinda wanna repair this Powerglide too. Kitbashing a missing arm and wing sounds like an interesting project, doesn’t it?
