The most kinetic Shockwave.
Yup, I got another One-Step Changer and this time it’s Shockwave. Also, he’s another Cyberverse Shockwave which means he has a Metal Gear/Metal Slug crab tank mode that you’ll either love or hate.
You know what type of Transformers people either love or hate? One-Step Changers.
Shockwave is both.
This is going to be interesting.
Vehicle mode

Shockwave is a crab-walker tank… but he doesn’t have a massive cannon like he usually does. What he does have is a weirdly high amount of paint apps for a One-Step Changer. He looks good but it is weird that a tank doesn’t have a big gun, right?
There’s not much you can do with Shockwave in this mode. He’s almost completely static and there’s no turret or gun you can aim in this mode. All you can do is rotate the front legs forward or back and scuttle Shockwave around… like a little crab.
Transformation
The transformation here is addictive and one of the best feeling ones I’ve ever gone through. You really need to feel the springiness of it to get what I’m saying here.
Robot mode

Shockwave has… a weirdly intimidating silhouette.
Shockwave only has two points of articulation here which doesn’t really surprise me.
- He can move his arms up and down at the shoulders.
Gimmicks
Shockwave’s main gimmick is his one-step transformation that you trigger by squeezing or stretching out the two back legs of the spider tank mode.
Sweet Primus, Shockwave’s transformation feels so good to do.
It feels so springy, kinetic and energetic.
Surprisingly enough, Shockwave has a second gimmick. Shockwave’s laser hand has a missile that you can flick out and extend. It’s not impressive at all but it’s fun to have something extra in a kid’s toy like this.
Toy or collectible?
Shockwave’s a toy.
He’s a great toy for children and a great fidget toy for adults who want to keep their hands busy. Shockwave’s affordable and worth the money. He’s still available in a lot of places online for his original RRP and you can find him used for cheap.
Closing
My weakness for simple figures with interesting gimmicks strikes again! I love this Shockwave because he is the perfect amount of jank.
