At last, I have a Final Battle Jazz!
… kinda.
It’s been awhile since we looked at a custom figure and the story behind this guy is almost exactly the same as the last custom we looked at. I found Jazz on Carousell and he was for sale at retail price even though custom Transformers usually go for a premium online. Maybe the guy wasn’t happy with how Jazz turned out?
I’ve always wanted Final Battle Jazz ever since I first saw him when I was a kid so I jumped at the chance to get a custom SS version of it!
Robot mode

Jazz is… smol.
And all sorts of messed up; the guy who customised Jazz went to town. Jazz got his face messed up real bad and he’s got actual burn marks everywhere. Also, while there’s paint scratches and cuts in lots of places, there’s no damage that ruins the functionality of the figure at all.
Nice.
I wasn’t prepared for it but Jazz is really posable for a figure this size. He’s missing a waist joint but has everything else you’d want and the sheer range of motion he has in those joints is nuts.
Vehicle mode

Once again, it’s amazing how small this mold is but seeing and handling it in car mode really hits you with how compact it is. I think there are old Scout Class Transformers that are bigger than Jazz!
The car mode is really nicely molded and painted for how small it is. There’s details everywhere and Jazz is bathed in silver paint… even with all the custom damage work that was done on him.
For playability, Jazz can roll and you can store his gun at the back of the car mode. Also, the custom damage makes just looking at the car exciting, imagining that this is Jazz’s last stand… in Pontiac Solstice mode.
Closing
Jazz is actually a really good figure that many people overlooked when he first came out because of how small he was. Now that people are (unfortunately) more used to smaller Deluxes, people should look back at one of the first figures to come out of the Studio Series line because Jazz is very good.
I might double dip and get another SS Jazz because a pristine one would be great for my collection… but having a custom battle damaged one is just awesome.
