I got Megs so that Optimus would have a friend.

You thought I was joking when I said that I’d get more Baiwei figures? Nope.

Here’s their bootleg of the SS Voyager Movie 1 Megatron!

While Optimus was a straightforward KO with some added diecast parts, Megatron here has been modified and improved a lot. Seriously, it’s like the two of them were made by completely separate companies.

The big improvement that Baiwei made here was on Megatron’s chest. The real SS Movie 1 Megatron had a big flaw; It reused the chest from the SS ROTF Megatron even though Megatron’s chest looked nothing like that in the first movie.

Baiwei went the extra mile and gave Megatron a very nicely detailed custom chest. I think it’s a copy of a 3rd party upgrade kit but a lot of people online think it’s an original design by Baiwei itself. Either way, the molding and paint here looks incredible.

Another thing that got changed was Megatron’s head. Baiwei apparently took the MPM Megatron head, downsized it and put it on this Voyager sized KO. The head looks good to me but some people have complained that it looks too big for his body.

I actually kinda wish they would have found a way to make the head visible in jet mode… because it’s a running gag for Megatron’s Cybertronian jet mode at this point.

The other improvements and additions are less extreme but still very much appreciated. They added a bunch of painted detail to Megatron and also gave him more weapons than his official release. He comes with two whips and his fusion cannon now!

Megatron here is a great KO and he looks great with Optimus, just like I hoped! And I’m more inclined than ever to get more stuff from Baiwei!

PS: Earth Shattering. I couldn’t help it, I have to comment on the name. That name is just so, so awesome.
