Black and gold repaints are the future.
I mean that sincerely, completely sincerely.
Black and purple, black and red, black and green… they’re all overdone. But black and gold? Now we’re talking.
I happened to find Stepper here for a good price but he’s missing his jousting lance… however he’s black and gold so I did not care.
Black and gold.
Robot mode

Honestly, I did not like the look of Warrior Jazz when it came out… but damn Stepper looks amazing in black and gold.
The paint really, really makes Stepper look so much better than Jazz. However, it’s not just the paint that makes Stepper look great. Stepper also has a remolded head that has a visor instead of the original head that Jazz came with.
For posability, there’s actually a decent amount here. Stepper’s got pretty much everything except a waist swivel and ankle pivots but you can get a ton of poses out of him even without those.
Vehicle mode

Stepper is a low-riding muscle car in vehicle mode. Once again, the paint and colours really sell this guy to me. The black, gold and red look so good to me.
The design on the hood is so over the top and I love it. Also, I really like how kibble free and tightly packed the car mode feels.
For playability, Stepper can roll really well in car mode since the undercarriage doesn’t scrape on anything. Also, he has a few weapon ports so you can arm him up as you see fit.
Closing
What can I say? This is a decent figure elevated by a great paint job and a sweet name. The base mold is actually much better than I thought it was going to be which was a pleasant surprise.
I’m not going to bother finding Stepper’s lance but I will get him a weapon of some sort at some point.
That weapon must be gold.
