OPTIMUS “SHOWTIME” PRIME!
New set of Happy Meal toys, new gimmick! It’s been a bit since the last round of Happy Meal Transformers. For this round, they’re 3D lenticular cards!
Optimus has a torso with a lenticular card inside it. Moving his left arm up moves the panel inside his torso. It has three frames of Optimus’s chest surging with electricity.
The 3D gimmick is pretty cool but it comes at the cost of Optimus looking… weird. His whole torso is a big block with a window. It’s like an oddly shaped brick with a head, arms and legs.
Personally, I think it makes him look unique and like a retro 80s figure. But I can understand if people are turned off by how he looks.
Aside from the oddly shaped chest, Optimus is about as detailed as you’d expect from a Happy Meal toy. He’s pretty sparse of painted details but there’s enough to make him look decent enough.
Optimus has some posability. His head can turn left to right. His left arm rotates 360° at the shoulder. His right arm can go up and down at the shoulder but can’t go the full 360° because of the gimmick. He swivels at the waist.
