Transformers Power Core Combiners Searchlight With Backwind Review

He’s not a Rescue Bot.

But wow, Searchlight gives of those vibes. He feels like less of a violent, murder on my mind type Autobot and more like a “I help put out forest fires” type dude.

Searchlight

Vehicle mode

Gotta say, so far, all the PCCs have had great vehicle modes. Searchlight’s rescue helicopter mode here looks great even though some of his robot mode bits are peeking out a bit.

Transformation

The transformation is a straightforward enough process that lets you get cycle quickly between all three modes.

Robot mode

Sad to say, like Skyburst, Searchlight’s normal robot mode is the weakest of his three modes.

Backwind

Alternate modes

I’ll be completely honest here. All Backwind’s modes aren’t very good. The best on is the searchlight and winch mode because it’s kinda clever and functional but even that mode’s a bit off looking.

His chest armour mode is okay because at least it looks like a shield and not some weird lump stuck onto someone’s chest. *cough* Power Of The Primes *cough*.

Backwind’s weapon mode though… just pretend it doesn’t exist. Just have Searchlight use his helicopter blades as weapons instead of whatever Backwind’s weapon mode is supposed to be.

Robot mode

Backwind is an interesting little robot. He looks like a translucent green orang utan.

Combined mode

Yeah, the combiner mode looks great. Searchlight really feels looks like Ultra Magnus in this mode and that’s a good thing cause Ultra Magnus is a handsome boi.

Gimmicks

Searchlight is a combiner torso and Backwind is a Mini-Con that turns into a bunch of stuff. For a set of figures this small there’s quite a bit going on.

Toy or collectible?

Toy.

I’ll say this again, PCCs are way underpriced for what they bring to the table.

Closing

Searchlight and Backwind are a decent enough set but they’re nothing to write home about. They’re both pretty good but not memorable enough in any particular way.

Still, you can pick them up cheap for yourself or for a kid and sometimes all you need is a competent enough toy to mess around with.
