Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen Supreme Devastator Review

Combiner Wars: The Prelude.

It seems kinda stupid now that there was any doubt that Combiners weren’t feasible. But back in 2009, Hasbro didn’t have enough confidence to make a full-featured Combiner Devastator and we got a Combiner who was formed by only vehicles. Not vehicles that could also turn into robots.

What is this? A Megazord?!

Well now that Combiner Wars has run its course, let’s take a look at what you could say was the first modern day five team combiner. Or not.

Because, you know, Megazord?

Vehicle mode

Scavenger

Scavenger is the biggest of the Constructicons and we’re starting with him.

So Scavenger being a massive excavator has a decent amount of playability in vehicle mode.

Mixmaster

Mixmaster is the second biggest and is the only one who has electronics. Combined with how simple and bloated he looks, Mixmaster feels much more toylike than all the other Constructicons in this set.

Hightower

Hightower is a crane.

Scrapper

Scrapper is a bulldozer.

Long Haul

Long Haul is a dump truck and looks pretty great in vehicle mode.

Rampage

Rampage is also a bulldozer.

Transformation

The benefit of them having no individual robot modes is that the transformation ends up being dead simple. Every sing

Combiner mode

Devastator is big in this mode. But compared to the Titan Class Transformers and even some Supreme ones, he’s just not too tall. He’s heavy though and way more dense than you’d expect.

Despite how simple the transformation on him is, Devastator is nicely detailed in his combined mode.

Gimmicks

As the Supreme Class toy from Revenge Of The Fallen toyline, Devastator is the big, gimmicky centerpiece of the whole line. And all of those gimmicks are stuffed into Mixmaster.

When Mixmaster is in vehicle mode, he makes noises when you roll him back and forth.

Toy or collectible?

At this point, I think neither and that has to do with cost. Supreme Devastator is very expensive for what you get and his prices aren’t going down even though the Studio Series Devastator is almost complete at this point.

Closing

Yeah, I’d have a hard time recommending Devastator now. He’s expensive and isn’t too impressive for the price.

He’s not bad for what he’s trying to achieve and he is a pretty fun toy. I enjoy having him, no doubt about that. But he’s not the biggest Transformer, he’s not the only big Bayverse Devastator and he’s not even that movie accurate to begin with.

So really, what’s he got going for him?
