False grail.
Dear Primus, of all the things for me to miss out on… it had to be what’s probably the best Optimus ever. Well, at least until MP10 came out that is…
Anyway, do you know how old I feel when I think about 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime? Do you know how much regret I feel for not buying him?Let me give you a hint.
I remember when he came out and cost RM200 ($50). AND I DIDN’T BUY HIM.
Anyway, MP01/20th Anniversary Optimus costs almost RM1000 ($250) now and there’s no way I’m gonna be getting him anytime soon. So it’s a good thing I managed to snag this KO!He was sold in the early 2010s and I didn’t snag him but he popped up used last year so I finally did.
For the RM180 ($45) I paid for him, Optimus here is incredible. He’s almost exactly the same as the original article as far as I can tell. The only simplifications are in the paint and only major flaw is a loose leg.
He’s got all his accessories, all his diecast parts and all his gimmicks. He’s also just as massive as the original and makes for a great presence on a shelf.
It’s a real shame that this KO is pretty rare and the original MP01 mold is disgustingly expensive. Despite being usurped as the definitive G1 Optimus twice, this is still an incredible Transformer. If you get a chance to get him for cheap, grab this KO.
