King of the hobos.

After so long, it finally happened. We got a Leader Class DOTM Megatron! Unfortunately, my copy is missing Igor.

Man, it’s still really weird that Megatron didn’t get a Leader Class figure in the DOTM toyline. Megatron didn’t get one but Bumblebee got one instead.

Well, we finally got what we wanted since 2011. No point being salty now.

Robot mode

Dear Primus, Megatron’s horrifying. He’s rusty, he’s deformed and his face. Look at his face. That’s some Darth Vader level scarring there. But it’s all just so well molded and painted that you gotta appreciate it. Megatron has really bulky proportions, he’s absolutely jacked. It’s not completely accurate to the movie but it’s still a good look.

For accessories, Megatron has his hood, his chains, his shotgun and Igor. I don’t have Igor though. His hood is made of actual cloth this time around and honestly looks great. So do the chains and shotgun. Dunno about Igor though, since I don’t have him.

Megatron suffers a bit in terms of articulation. Everything above the waist is great (even though I wish he had wrist swivels). But he’s missing a waist swivel and his legs are a bit restricted at the hips. He’s also missing some articulation at the feet but since his feet are huge it’s not really a problem.

Vehicle mode

Wow, this thing is intimidating. Big trucks are impressive to begin with. Megatron here’s just showing off. The Commander Class Megatron from DOTM had a good truck mode and so did the Voyager. This just trumps both of them. It’s a treat to look at. It’s painted and molded way better than I was expecting.

The only downsides in truck mode are that he can’t pivot at the trailer and the truck cab is hollow. Both of those don’t bother me but it’s still something that might bug you.

No action gimmicks here. All ten of his wheels roll well and all his accessories can be stored in truck mode quite neatly.

Closing

Megatron’s a lot more impressive than I thought he was gonna be. Based on the pictures and early reviews I thought he was just gonna be a good Transformer. Turns out he’s absolutely fantastic. Yes, he has his flaws but Megatron just looks great and is wonderful fun to play with.

I definitely recommend you get him. His only major downside in my opinion is that he’s new Leader class size. I want a huge KO of this guy at some point!

Oh yeah, I’m definitely gonna hunt down an Igor to keep Megatron company.
