Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen Scout Dead End (Detour) Review

Con of many names.

His other one is Edward Cullen.

Cause he’s a vampire.

That’s a custom waiting to happen, right?

Dead End/Detour was released under two names back in 2009. I call him Detour cause there’s another Dead End from the same toyline.

Confusing.

Vehicle mode

Detour is a car but I keep thinking of him more as a Hot Wheels car than as an actual car. The crazy thing is he is based on a real life car. He’s so unique and alien looking you’d think this is a Cybertronian car. It’s detailed and painted nicely with enough colours to keep Detour looking interesting.

Also, his wheels all roll fine. The undercarriage doesn’t get in the way and that’s always a bonus in my books.

Transformation

Ah, the joy of transforming Scout figures. They’re usually simple and quick but at this size you don’t feel ripped off because of it. Dunno about you but if a Voyager or Leader is too simple to transform it raises an eyebrow just a little.

Robot mode

Detour has a balanced robot mode. What I mean by that is he’s got a lot of molded detail but he’s not too busy like the worst Bayverse Transformers. I know Detour’s supposed to be a vampire but I’m getting more of a zombie or ghoul vibe from him. He’s lean and mean plus he’s got a vicious looking head. He has detailed teeth in there.

Detour has a lot of articulation for a guy this small but he has one big problem. He can’t turn his head side to side. He can look up and down as well as open his mouth. Detour can chomp down on stuff man. It’s a bummer he can’t turn his head. His shoulders, elbows and hands are all ball-jointed. His hips are ball-jointed, he has thigh swivels and knee bends. Lastly, his feet move forward and back.

Toy or collectible?

Detour is comfortably both. He’s got two great modes and a simple transformation. He’s therefore good for the kids. But also, there’s enough to like here for adult collectors to enjoy. Apart from that one problem.

Closing

The movie Scout figures are all gems in my opinion. I’ve not had one that I didn’t enjoy. Detour is no exception.

Detour has one problem that irks me but aside from that he’s another fun and interesting Transformer that pretty much anyone can enjoy.
