Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen Legends Scavenger Review

The upper half of the body.

If Scrapper and Hightower are tied as my favourites of the Legends Constructicons, then Scavenger here is a close second. I played with him so much that the pin from his right elbow fell off. I still have to fix that somehow.

Just based on pictures and reviews online back in 2009, I came to the conclusion that little Scavenger here was better than Voyager Demolishor.

My logic: They looked exactly the same but Scavenger could combine to form Devastator.

Vehicle mode

Scavenger is supposed to a humungous mining vehicle. He’s got the shovel to prove it! At Legends scale his enormous-ness doesn’t really translate but it’s still a nice vehicle mode.

For playability, you can move his bucket. But only at that one pinned point and you can’t lower the bucket to the ground. Also, you got tiny rolling wheels under his treads so Scavenger can roll. Apparently, Demolishor (who is a Voyager) didn’t have wheels to let him roll. So little Scavenger wins on that front.

Body mode

He is the upper body of Devastator. He’s the upper arms and chest basically. Not much to talk about without combining him to form Devastator.

Transformation

Scavenger has a pretty interesting transformation from vehicle to robot mode. To keep things simple, they cheated. Instead of making his wheels transform from his treads, they just hid two big wheels vehicle mode. Genius.

The transformations between all three modes is simple but effective. They’re also quite fun.

Robot mode

Now this is an iconic robot mode. When people say that the Bayverse robot modes are weird or disturbing, they usually have this robot design in mind. For a Legends figure, I am very impressed that they managed to pull off Scavenger. Especially since they fumbled Long Haul. Seriously, if you upsized this to Voyager scale, he’d be able to go toe to toe with the actual Voyager Demolishor. The molded details and paint wouldn’t even need that much improvement, they’re already quite good.

In terms of posability… yeah he doesn’t have that much. Both of his big wheels roll. His arms spin sideways at the shoulders and bend at the elbows. Yeah, Voyager Demolishor beats out little Scavenger in this category.

Toy or collectible?

He’s like Rampage and Hightower. If you or your kid like the design of the robot then go for it. If not, then skip it unless you want Devastator.

If you do like the design though, Scavenger is better than Rampage and Hightower. Even though I like Hightower better, Scavenger is the better figure. He’s simple to transform and has two good modes besides his body mode. He’s great for kids and adult collectors who like Legends Transformers.

Closing

Yeah, Scavenger is a great Legends figure and if you dig his admittedly very weird design, you should check him out.

Regardless of whether or not you want and or need Devastator.

But just as a reminder.

You’ll need Scavenger if you want Devastator.
