Mini chopper.
I completely forgot to review this guy. I bought him a parts donor and fixed him but never reviewed him. I also completely forgot that I already reviewed this mold. We took a look at orange Grindor some time ago.
Well, let’s take a look at this guy anyway.
Vehicle mode

Blackout here’s a helicopter. He’s gray and has spinning rotors. The big one and the tail rotor both spin.
One thing I really like is that there’s not much kibble in this mode. Even on the underside.
Transformation
As you’d expect from a Legends figure, the transformation’s super simple to do.
Robot mode

Blackout looks passably accurate to the movie model. One thing I wanna say is that he seems to be more similar to the Voyager 2007 Voyager than the actual on-screen model. Weird.
He’s got some posability. He has ball-jointed shoulders and hips. He’s also got elbows and knees that bend in the wrong direction.
Toy or collectible?
Mainline Legends are more suitable for kids. Blackout’s got two okay modes, a simple transformation and is easy on the wallet. He still is easy on the wallet too despite being a 12 year old toy.
Adult collectors probably won’t go wild for Blackout here. Even guys who like Legends scale figure have the better option of getting the DOTM Commander Blackout. That one’s much better looking.
Closing
Blackout here is mediocre at best. He’s not horrible but I can’t say I love him either.
Use your own discretion for this one.
