Quick Look Review: Transformers Robots In Disguise 2015 Warrior Steeljaw

The bad guy is a furry.

I’m truly sorry I made that joke but I also had to. But if we’re being honest, you thought it too didn’t you?
Steeljaw here is more more incomplete than my other “quick look” figures. This is because I got him for free in a lot. He’s missing his side windows, his claw and the end of his tail.

Robot mode

Pretty neat design, all biases and prejudices considered. Steeljaw looks big, stout and tough. That’s my main problem with him though. You get the feeling that he should have been a Voyager. Also, since he’s pretty much a werewolf, I wish he was either predominantly grey or black. The blue does look quite nice though.

For posability you’ve pretty much got everything. However, I’m missing most of his tail (or his third leg, hehe). That means he’s an absolute nightmare to balance.

Vehicle mode

Now this is where one of my personal biases comes in. I absolutely adore trucks, jeeps and 4-wheel drives in general. Steeljaw wins by default.

Looking objectively at him though, Steeljaw’s still very good. Yes, even missing his side windows. No obnoxious kibble, lots of ground clearance and a unique design make him stand out among the crowd of race cars on a shelf of Transformers.

Closing

Steeljaw ended up being way more fun than I thought he would be. I’ve been avoiding RID 2015 Warriors in general. I should really go back and give more of them a shot.

First things first though, I’m gonna go get a complete copy of Steeljaw. Now should I splurge on the Takara release or not?
