This isn’t a Macross figure.

Jetfire here was one of the first of the revamped Leader Class Transformers. That’s a polite way of saying Jetfire has as much plastic as a Voyager or maybe an Ultra from the Cybertron toyline.

Paying full price at RM249 new for Jetfire just seemed wrong to me. Luckily for me I got him second hand with a Deluxe figure and Arms Micron at RM99 ($25)! Unfortunately he was missing his launching missile. Put him in the pile of Generations toys I have that are missing parts.

Let’s take a look at all of the Leader Jetfire I do have shall we?

Robot mode

Jetfire is a handsome one isn’t he? The head is brilliant whether you have him with or without his mask on. He also looks brilliant almost all around. “Almost” because he’s got so many hollow gaps on display. I understand you need to keep costs down but this is just an eyesore.

You can also absolutely arm this guy to the teeth. He can almost outgun Roadbuster! Or DOTM Leader Bumblebee! That’s terrifying. His accessories nice and all but most people take issue with the chrome. I for one, love it. Bling of war baby, bling of war.

Jetfire can pose very well. He’s only missing wrist swivels, a waist swivel and ankle tilts.

Vehicle mode

Jetfire has a very impressive jet mode. This thing is massive and has a lot of sculpted detail. It’s also lovingly painted. Kudos Hasbro!

Though as with most jet-formers, he has a bit of undercarriage. It’s definitely not the worst. Jetfire keeps a slim profile from the sides. But the robot mode faux cockpit being visible in jet mode irks me. I just do not like it. It bugs me.

Still a good jet mode though.

Closing

Jetfire is actually a great figure. It’s just a shame they cheaped out on him. I don’t mean his size, I mean all the visible hollow parts. That’s got to bug you too right? Still though, you probably won’t regret getting Jetfire here.

Now the missing missile doesn’t bug me that much. However I do want to get a complete version of this mold. The question now is should I get the Japanese release of Jetfire? Or any one of the Seekers remolds?
