Sparkling Grimlock.

Now as you know, I love gimmick toys aimed at kids. I don’t know why I haven’t outgrown them, but I haven’t. That said, the Dino Sparkers had me quite uninterested.

Just looking at the pictures below, you can understand why. Grimlock literally looks like a turd with a dinosaur head and the tiny Optimus Prime looks worse than a cheap Chinese knockoff. The only reason I have these guys is because I got them as a gift.

Grimlock with Optimus Prime

Optimus sits on Grimlock securely enough and his sword sticks out far enough for him to joust.

Yes, the colours are unfortunate and he does look like a turd. But his head is nice looking at least. It turns a bit as well.

There’s actually legs molded on but you’d be forgiven for not noticing them since there’s so little paint.

Kinder Joy toys look better than this. I can’t even.

Gimmicks

It’s a very good thing that the Dino Spark gimmick works very well. It’s a veritable light show inside Grimlock when you pull him back and let him go! Grimlock had one job and he did it.

Toy or collectible?

Dude. It’s a toy for little kids.

If you got this for a collector, they’d be liable to set you on fire. That’s exaggerating a bit I guess.

They’d punch you in the face.

Closing

I’m not sure I can recommend these guys. I do like them a lot now but I’m aware that’s just me being weird. Dino Sparkers are rare-ish nowadays and when they pop up they’re either very cheap or at the same retail price they came out as. For RM52.90 ($10+), I wouldn’t go for it.

But if you find a Dino Sparker for cheap, you have my seal of approval to get it for the LOLs.
