Quick Look: Transformers Movie 2007 Voyager Optimus Prime (Custom Painted)

Sometimes you find treasures for cheap.

This Optimus Prime is a prime example of that. See what I did there?

I somehow stumbled upon this custom Voyager Optimus Prime for really cheap on a site called Carousell.

I got him for RM60 ($15).

Robot mode

Optimus Prime here is an interesting release. His silhouette is more accurate than the first movie Leader Optimus and he’s (arguably) more posable. Was it really necessary to release a Leader and Voyager class figure? With the benefit of hindsight, this question is stupid. Optimus has been released in pretty much every size class at this point.

Optimus has pretty good posability. He’s only missing a waist swivel and movement at the feet. He can either wield his two missile launchers on his arms or position them over shoulder. Either way looks cool.

Vehicle mode

Optimus has a very nicely done truck mode. Yeah, the vehicle mode isn’t accurate. It’s the same basic shape and profile but it’s apparently a completely different truck than in the movie. It still looks very nice though.

The coolest thing about this mold is that not only does it have a detailed interior, it has a driver. With a cowboy hat! And if you open the driver’s side door, he vanishes. Neat!

Optimus also has access to his missile launchers in this mode. A little less neat, but still nice.

Closing

Being released in 2007, it’s not surprising this mold is a little outdated. The latest Studio Series Voyagers and the Movie Masterpiece have this guy trounced in terms of accuracy.

That being said, the unique transformation, the great vehicle mode and the quality of the mold make me recommend you give this mold a shot.Oh right, and the fact that there are a bunch of versions of this mold available cheap.
