Baby brawler.
If you’ve been reading my blog long enough, you’ll notice I’m not much like other adult collectors. I actually am very fond of most of the gimmicky stuff that’s aimed towards the younger kids.Let’s take a look and see if Cyber Slammer Brawl is an exception to that rule or not.
Robot mode

The first thing you notice about Brawl is that he’s been made adorable. The second thing you notice is that his feet are massive. Yes, I’m aware I’m being generous by calling them feet but at least they compact down a tiny bit.I say this a lot about the older figures, but wow. He’s got really nice paint apps. And he’s a toy aimed at younger children man! Detailed paint is truly a lost art.Brawl only has posability at his head and even then it’s only side to side movement. If you got this guy for articulation, you’re really missing the point.
Transformation (Gimmick)
Push down on the body and Brawl turns into a tank, slowly moves forward and then turns back into a robot.Now. If you slam down on the body, Brawl turns into a tank, speeds forward and then turns back into a robot.I’m not one for being too rough on your toys, but these guys are called Cyber Slammers for a reason.Push down the body and turn on the locking mechanism. Brawl is now a tank permanently! Well, until you turn off the locking mechanism at least.
Vehicle mode

Brawl is so cute in tank mode it’s ridiculous. A cute truck or car I can understand. But a cute tank? Hasbro, you’re nuts!He has a lot of (cutesified) detail and is painted better than most adult aimed mainline figures released nowadays.Aside from being cute and rolling around on tiny wheels, he doesn’t do anything. But sometimes that’s enough.
Toy or collectible?
Toy all the way man. Brawl is even more kiddy than One-Steps. He’s also even better suited for the younger set too. He’s more durable than most One-Steps and feel much denser as well. That said, while he was cheaper than a One-Step when he was released in 2007, he costs twice as much as they do now. Personally, I think he’s worth it.Since he was released more than a decade ago, he’s counted as a collectible now I suppose. So some adults would probably like to have him just for that.
Closing
I like kid’s toys and I love Cyber Slammer Brawl. He’s obviously not for everyone. But he appeals to the child in me. Also, probably to actual children as well.
