He’s blue and hates Starscream.

That’s about all I can say I know about Prime Dreadwing as a character. I didn’t watch most of the Prime series.

That said, I thought Dreadwing had a cool design. And one day, I found him incomplete and cheap. And in this case, incomplete means only missing his sword.

So here we are.

Robot mode

Dreadwing looks like a samurai. A samurai with an oni mask for a face.

Yeah, it’s a cool design to have. It’s also very well executed here. He’s got tons of posability and is only missing a waist swivel. Oh, some ankle pivots would’ve been nice too.

Dreadwing is supposed to come with a sword and a “gun”. I’m missing the sword, but he looks good holding the sword from First Edition AOE Optimus.

The “gun” is absolute trash.

Vehicle mode

Dreadwing has an okay plane mode with one glaring flaw. I think you’ll be able to figure out what I’m talking about from the pics.

As far as undercarriage goes, he’s pretty standard for a jetformer. He’s not the best at hiding his robot modes but certainly not the worst.

The “gun” is even worse in this mode.

Closing

I’m gonna level with you. The robot mode is damn near flawless. But the hands in jet mode just bother me. Even with that flaw, he’s still a very good offering from the Prime series.

Also, I’m not gonna hunt down his sword. I’m gonna get him a giant Gundam sword. Oni-face here deserves it.
