Transformers Cyberverse Warrior Shockwave Review

Purple and pink Shocker.

Both versions of Cyberverse Shockwave are widely considered to be the only good things to come out of the Cyberverse line.
Let’s see if that’s true or not.

Packaging

Vehicle mode

He’s a walking tank. Not quite a spider tank, since he’s only got four legs. So he’s a crab tank!
It’s looks cool and kinda threatening, but you’re very aware that it’s just Shockwave on all fours with his head covered.
You can pose all four of his legs since they’re just his robot mode limbs in weird positions. His cannon cannot be aimed anywhere but straight.

Transformation

The transformation is exactly what you think it is. Shockwave stands up and cleans himself up a bit.

Robot mode

Now this is a great looking robot mode. His proportions are nice and his paint is top notch. The pink panel lines look really good.
Shockwave’s head is also nicely molded and painted. He just looks pissed off.
Sadly, he doesn’t have any head posability. None. But he does have a lot of posability elsewhere. Shockwave’s shoulders are universal, he has a bicep swivel and elbow bend. His hips are universal, his knees bend a lot and his feet can go down due to the transformation. That’s much more posability than the average Cyberverse figure.
Shockwave is quite well armed in robot mode. He has his signature arm cannon and his tank cannon can be used over the shoulder.
A really sweet robot mode overall.

Gimmicks

Shockwave can use his “Wave Cannon” in both modes, but apparently it’s only at full power in robot mode.
In robot mode moving the cannon on Shockwave’s back to his shoulder releases two blast effects.
In tank mode, activating it only releases one blast effect.
Weird design choice if you ask me, but fun nontheless.

Toy or collectible?

Toy. He’s a toy. He’s a cheaper figure that’s easy to transform and looks cool. Perfect toy for the kids.
Adults will get some enjoyment out of this guy. But the release of the Siege Shockwave pretty much renders this guy obsolete to adult collectors.

Closing

I say he’s obsolete to adult collectors, but really if you collect Shockwaves or just like him in general, this guy would look great in your collection. And as far as Cyberverse goes, Shockwave is pretty much king in terms of figures released so far. In case you forgot about this guy.
