Keep on trucking.

Full disclosure, I think out of all his appearances and characterizations in the Bayverse, Megatron was the best in DOTM.
He was still an asshole, but in DOTM he became much more fleshed out, relatable (?) and endearing (?!!). Something his on screen model conveyed well.
Does this figure convey it as well?

Vehicle mode

This thing will kill you.
He’s a Mad Max truck! With six rolling wheels and a tiny tank.
He’s got spikes and painted on rust details that make him look dangerous.
He’s impressively clean and kibble free in this mode.

Transformation

Gotta say, even though it’s easy, I think it’s a brilliant transformation scheme. It’s the sweet spot of not being to easy but not being hair-ripping out frustrating.
I especially like the way his legs transform.

Robot mode

Somehow he looks badass and adorable.
His face is disfigured but that somehow makes him even more endearing to me.
For a small scale figure, he’s got great posability. He’s got ball jointed shoulders, elbows, and hips. He rotates and bends at the knee. His head can move up and down. It’s just a shame he’s missing rotation at the head.
For weapons, his tiny tank turns into a pair of guns that can either be held separately or be combined into a bigger gun. Megatron can hold it in a variety of ways.

Toy or collectible?

At this point in time, he leans more to toy. He’s just complex enough for young kids and he can still be bought at a decent price.
For adult collectors, he’s really only for guys who collect Legends scale figures. Everyone else is better off with the Studio Series Leader Megatron.

Closing

Despite what I said about collectors being better off with the Studio Series Leader Megatron, this guy is still one of my favourite Megatrons in my collection. If you have space for more Megatrons in your collection, you should definitely give Commander Megatron a shot.
