Transformers Movie 2007 Deluxe Stockade Review

Never heard of him? Don’t remember him? Can’t blame you, but you’re missing out.

To be honest, he’s a nobody character that I wanted solely because of a funny picture I saw on the internet when I was like 12. I have recreated it and made it better for your viewing pleasure. It’s up top, but I’ll put it here again in case you missed it.

Vehicle mode

Plain black SUV. It hides the robot mode very well. Has nice paint.

Rolls nicely.

Moving along.

Transformation

Hoo boy. This is a movie figure but it has an Armada/Energon era style transformation. There are Minicons with more involved transformations.

30 seconds tops and you got yourself a robot. Honestly, not a bad thing.

Robot mode

This guy. Look at him. How can you not think he’s cool? He looks like he’s a robotic gorilla that’s either gonna smash you into a thin paste or be your best friend. Considering he’s a Decepticon, probably the latter.

The thing that strikes me the most about him is that he somehow looks unique and generic at the same time. I guess Unique + Generic = Unique? I’ll go with that.

Posability is a bit lacking compared to more modern figures, but for the time was considered average to good. All he’s missing are bicep and thigh swivels. But he does have finger posability for some reason. Unfortunately, not enough to flip you off.

Gimmicks

This is why you’d want to look back after 11 years. To this day, it is still on of the best punching gimmicks on a Transformer ever. You can fight me on this.

Pull the levers on the back of his forearms and his fist extends forward. Now nominally, this is only for punching things, but I like to think it’s an extending arm feature and he’s like Luffy from One Piece.

The punching gimmick is available on both arms.

I’m not sure if it counts as Automorph, but pulling down the panel that hides the head in vehicle mode brings up the head for robot mode. Just mentioning it.

Toy or collectible?

Toy. Toy, toy, toy. He’s really simple, has two good modes and a really stupid punching gimmick. He’s also pretty durable, so you won’t worry if he falls off a shelf.

As a collectible, he looks cool on a shelf. He’s available for pretty reasonable prices online if you get him used. But he has almost no fiction and character associated to him, so that’s a drag.

Closing

I can wholeheartedly recommend this guy to you based on the picture below only.

But with a solid vehicle mode, good robot mode and unique design, I think you’ll be happy with him either way.
